Welcome to the Biology Program (BIOL)

New Graduate Program!
Ph.D. in Marine Biology

The Biology Program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi focuses on enhancement of critical thinking skills which prepare students for careers in the biological sciences and other general areas of employment. For a well-rounded education, students at all levels are encouraged to become involved with scientific Research in addition to concentrating on their course work. The Biology Program provides diverse training for students whose career goals include…

  • positions with local, state and national agencies
  • positions in research laboratories
  • science-related sales and scientific writing
  • admission to graduate and post-graduate studies
  • admission to health-related professional schools
  • teacher certification in life science education

The Biology Program offers the following degrees:

• Ecology • Marine Biology
• Cell and Molecular Biology • Microbiology
• Animal Biology • Plant Biology
• Integrative Biology • General Biology
Other students combine science and education courses for a concentration in Life Science Education (Grades 8-12). Also, undergraduate students majoring in other disciplines can earn a Minor in Biology.
  • Master of Science (M.S.) in Biology — the graduate degree involves course work and research. Master of Science students can choose to follow a Thesis Plan or a Non-Thesis Plan. Various stipends, assistantships, scholarships and other sources of funding are available to graduate students.
