Dr. Mott is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical and Life Sciences, with research and teaching focus in environmental microbiology. Her research currently focuses on bacteria source tracking and recreational water quality. The research laboratory with multiple grant funding is very active and employs both graduate and undergraduate students. She frequently collaborates with other faculty on projects, for example on microbial aspects of mariculture Two undergraduate students have been awarded American Society for Microbiology Undergraduate Fellowships under her mentorship. She teaches a large general microbiology course and several upper level and graduate courses in microbial ecology, aquatic microbiology and biology of the fungi. Dr. Mott’s other duties include Coordinator of the Undergraduate Biology Program.
