Texas Parks and Wildlife Department at the Gulf Coast Conservancy Association/Central Power and Light (GCCA/CPL)-Marine Development Center in Flour Bluff, TX continues to play a very important role in supervising graduate student interns at the Corpus Christi fish hatchery. Dr. Robert Vega, Chief of Marine Hatcheries for TPWD, is also involved in student research conducted at the hatchery, lecturers in certain classes, and has served on several graduate committees.

The University of Texas Marine Science Institute (Port Aransas, TX) has employed marine science and mariculture students since 1990 to conduct research in various areas of marine fish and shrimp culture. Drs. Alan Davis, and Joan Holt have funded 8 graduate students as well as given guest lectures at TAMU-CC.
